What is a 301 redirect?
In the simplest of “technical definitions”, a 301 redirect is a permanent redirect from one URL to the other.
For the 301 redirect, that is a way to redirect an old URL to a new one. Once you make a blog post that is indexed by a search engine, deleting or moving the blog post to new address does not delete the URL from the search engine index. Also you may have backlinks to that old URL. So, when people visit that old URL from search engine or any other link, they’ll see a 404 not found error.
Now, if you 301 redirect your old URL to new one, people visiting your old URL will automatically be redirected to new one. Also, google will transfer all ranking factors from old URL to new one.
So, 301 redirected is necessary if you change any URL in your website.
